Understanding Materials and Sustainability

Shipping, Production, & Returns   Jewelry Care & Repair  Sizing Guide

Our mission is to provide the highest quality, and affordable jewelry options at accessible pricing.

For ALL of our jewelry we use:

  • Base Material: Non-precious lead-free premium alloy with .05% silver, which is strong and lightweight.
  • Overlay/Finish/ Electronic Plate: Rhodium and 14Kt gold, a permanent non-tarnish, easy to care for finish. Rhodium, a derivative of platinum, has all the platinum attributes with the added benefit of being harder, lasting longer, and a whiter tone.
  • Stones: Our product stones are Cubic Zirconia. Even when diamonds' glitter is undeniably gorgeous, high-quality stones are expensive, and many women turn to cubic zirconia (also known as CZ) as an affordable substitute. An engagement ring, necklace, or pair of earrings designed with this synthetic stone can be just as beautiful as any natural diamond, but human-made Cubic Zirconia will not chip, crack, cloud, or fade. Cubic Zirconia is virtually indistinguishable to the eye by diamond experts, can scratch glass like natural diamonds, and is tougher than a sapphire.
  • Earring Posts: Surgical steel, which is ideal for sensitive ears prone to infection or allergies.

We believe in the slow-fashion movement and offer a Quality Assurance program that guarantees jewelry that will last for a lifetime. We offer repairs on all our products which strip the product of its original plating, fixes defects, blemishes, or prolonged ware, and refinishes your jewelry back to its original quality.

For over 20 years we have manufactured & shipping our products from our headquarters in East Providence, RI, USA. We always uphold our promise to be Made in America and Handcrafted in Rhode Island.

Defining Sustainable Materials

Sustainable materials are those that are designed and manufactured in ways that reduce environmental impact. These materials are sourced responsibly and often use renewable resources. For example, bamboo is a sustainable option because it grows quickly and does not require harmful pesticides. Using sustainable materials is beneficial for both the planet and the economy, as it can lead to reduced waste and energy savings.

Benefits of Using Sustainable Materials

Choosing sustainable materials not only helps the environment, but it can also improve the quality of products. For instance, many sustainable materials are more durable, which means they last longer and reduce the frequency of replacement. Additionally, using such materials often leads to lower carbon footprints during production. This means that companies that prioritize sustainability often find they can create better products, which is a win-win situation.

The Role of Consumers in Sustainability

Consumers play a crucial role in promoting sustainability in materials. By choosing products made from sustainable materials, consumers send a message to manufacturers. However, many people are still unaware of what sustainable materials are. Therefore, educating ourselves and others about the availability of these materials is essential. Because when consumers demand sustainable options, companies are more likely to provide them.

Importance of Materials in Sustainability

Materials play a crucial role in sustainability. They determine how products are made and how long they last. For example, using sustainable materials like bamboo or recycled plastic helps in reducing waste and conserving resources. However, not all materials are equal; some can harm the environment. Therefore, it’s essential to choose materials wisely to promote sustainability.

The Role of Eco-Friendly Materials

Eco-friendly materials contribute significantly to a sustainable future. These materials often come from renewable sources and have a lower environmental impact. For instance, organic cotton reduces chemical usage, while recycled metals save energy in production. So, utilizing such materials not only lessens pollution but also supports the economy by creating jobs in sustainable industries.

Challenges and Solutions in Material Selection

While many materials offer sustainable benefits, challenges remain in their selection and use. Cost and accessibility can hinder the adoption of eco-friendly materials. However, innovative technologies are emerging, offering solutions to these challenges. For instance, finding cheaper alternatives to traditional materials can make sustainable choices more viable for businesses and consumers alike.
